Independent music is at an interesting crossroads. Never before has it been so easy for almost anybody to produce and distribute music from their bedroom, reducing the need for record labels and compromise of artistic integrity. But the distribution of independent music is still contentious.
It can be so hard to become noticed and promote your music in this oversaturated climate. Getting out there on the mainstream streaming platforms is surely an achievement, but it can feel overwhelming to become noticed where curated playlists prioritise those who are already signed to an industry. But we believe things don't have to be this way.
This is fundamentally our aim for COSY FM - to install the same values of honesty, integrity, and accessibility we have explored in written articles to a new streaming platform dedicated to independent creators. In the same way we have empowered writers and artists, we want to extend the same ethos of COSY towards musicians and audio creators who deserve every ounce of our support.
Focusing on building a smaller community of independent musicians allows you more exposure to an audience willing to discover and support independent musicians. Audiences can find your music, follow your socials, and add your music to their playlists on Spotify and Apple Music. It's a win-win.
To clarify - we do not intend on replacing the big players like Spotify, YouTube or Apple when it comes to your music distribution. We are a not-for-profit business, which allows us to stay dedicated to our mission of distributing raw and honest material without the pressures of making a profit.
We also do not require exclusivity if you choose to send your music to us. We just want to help you get that extra promotion, and we'll even include links to your music on Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music - you name it.
More importantly, we believe the thing we can offer most is a place in our small, COSY community. With a dedicated follower base, we hope we can be the #1 place for independent content creators with something honest and special to share.
Plus, we'll also promote your music on our channels and genuinely support your work. You might even find great musicians and content creators to collaborate with.
We don't want to rush it, so we can release the best product we can.
